Julie Coles is an independent publisher and author. After retiring from the teaching profession where she held positions as a special education teacher, classroom consultant, and school leader, she made a seamless transition to becoming a writer. Having a fondness for thinking about innovative ideas to improve the quality of education, retirement afforded Julie time to write about new ideas for rebuilding America’s public education system.
Throughout her career in education, many of Julie’s innovative ideas were recognized by various distinguished organizations. Some of her honors and awards include induction into Phi Delta Kappa, Massachusetts Teacher of the Year (MTY) Runner Up, City of Cambridge Mayor’s Citation, Edward Calesa Foundation Terrific Teachers Award, and Boston Private Industries Council (PIC) Award.
