Bio
Dr. David Baker-Hargrove is a licensed mental health counselor located in Orlando, Florida who has been providing mental health services to the LGBTQ+ community, including trans-specific healthcare for over 25 years. Ve has a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Barry University 2002 and is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida. Dr. Baker-Hargrove has been working as a counselor since 1995. Ve has over 20 years’ non-profit leadership experience and has a background in corporate accounting. A recognized expert on nonprofit development, Dr. Baker-Hargrove has a proven track record of launching successful, sustainable non-profits, or assisting organizations which have become stagnant by revitalization in both mission and funding.
Ve has served on numerous funding opportunity review committees for both HRSA and SAMHSA since 1999 and has worked on multi-million-dollar SAMHSA-funded projects. Also, ve is credentialed as an expert witness in the U.S. Immigration Court, US District Court, and the 18th Circuit Court in the areas of trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and LGBTQ cultural competencies. As an American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Responder, David worked at World Trade Center Ground Zero following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Dr. Baker-Hargrove spearheaded the response effort for the Pulse Nightclub Massacre in June 2016, mobilizing over 650 volunteer counselors to provide nearly 1,000 mental health encounters between June 12 and the July 4th Weekend.
